This year’s Wigilia celebration was a mixture of Polish heritage and Christmas traditions, renewing old friendships and making new friends. The weather was perfect, the food, prepared by Mike Janiszewski and Gayle Sparagowski was mouth-watering delicious and the mood was festive. There was even an appearance by the mailman, Ken Stein. (If you don’t know the meaning of the visit by the mailman, you haven’t been to our Wigilia Celebration.)
The Polish American Community of Toledo would like to thank Dave and Kim Zavotski for their help preparing the food. Also to Billy Pennef for his help setting up and his dish-washing abilities. Also to Jordon Rutan and Tim Burnett. We can’t forget one of the most important parts of Wigilia–singing koledy–and we are very appreciative of Sister Geraldine Paluszak, Sister Aloise Paluszak and Sister Josetta Konopka for leading the koledy. Most of all, thank you to all who participated in this year’s celebration. We sincerely hope you have a better understanding of your ancestors’ traditions and heritage.
